Before the Storm is the first single release from the new album, Brotherhood: The East River Songs.

This first set of new studio recordings in many years will be released on Sept. 12, 2023, the night of the group's 50th anniversary concert in NYC.

Born mid-island by the fens, / Went to school with fishermen,
Spent the summers baking soda bread,
Waitressed at the Chanticleer, / Skinny dipped at Nobadeer,
Lost her oyster at Tom Nevers Head.

Paradise, Jubilee, / Eden twenty miles at sea,
Sunrise yawns, sunset sails, / Friday nights, Rusty Nail.
Life was kind, water warm, / Surfing life before the storm.
Just before the storm

Followed a guitar to land, / E-string for a wedding band,

Tempers hot, lovers cooled, / Left alone, taught high school
At the other edge of the world.
